Rayt Enters The Global Young Social Entrepeneurs' Competition!

globalyoung.pngwe're in!

Mary & I recently entered Rayt into the The Global Young Social Entrepreneurs’ Competition. The application process was really intense and forced us to do a lot of brainstorming about Rayt - including really exploring our values, envisioning our long-term social impacts, and figuring out exactly what our business model is. I submitted the application last night at around midnight (the deadline is today) and while it was a bit exhausting, I'm really glad because it brought a lot of focus to the project.

You can check out our application here.

We really hope we win as it would mean a trip to the Young Social Entrepreneurs’ Forum in December 2007 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This forum will be part of the 3rd Global Knowledge Conference, which will be cram-packed with 2,000 participants, including "various funding organisations such as development aid agencies, commercial banks, CSR investors and venture capitalists; mentors; experts and other stakeholders."

The event also comes with the chance to be one of 10 chosen to pitch for funding during the Forum and, if successful, fast-track Rayt with a fellowship under the Youth Social Enterprise Initiative.

We'll let you know at the end of this month if we crack the first round!

:)

Although we received the honor of being short-listed for the social entrepreneurship award, we did not win. It was a terrific competition, though, and we wish all the winners the best with their projects!
