All cooks have a preference for specific kitchen gadgets. Throughout my life I’ve been buying each new gadget or gizmo as it’s come onto the market. Many of these have been forgotten and lie unused in various kitchen cabinets. The huge range of kitchen gadgets is an inevitable consequence of the large numbers of bespoke kitchen manufacturers.
To make cooking fast and easy today’s designer kitchens are equipped with a variety of time-saving gadgets and appliances. The type of cooking you do and the types of food you prepare will determine what you consider your favourite items. I have a great passion for cooking and make any and all types of dishes; so my collection of gadgets is huge. Some of my regularly used favourite devices are listed below.
Hand Held Blender.
No kitchen should be without a hand held blender. Mine is a heavy duty one that comes with different attachments including beaters and a whisk. Almost all my food preparation involves the use of mine. It will chop, whisk and puree. I use it when I make soup or gravy; it blends the dishes quickly and with little effort. It is easy to use and clean up is a breeze. I use mine so often that it has a special place on my countertop for easy access.
Garlic Crusher.
I use garlic in most of the dishes I prepare and I prefer fresh garlic over garlic powder or salt. Over the years I have tried all kinds of garlic presses and never found one that worked well. It wasn’t until I found a truly effective garlic crusher that I became hooked. It’s extremely durable as a result of being made out of stainless steel. After removing the skin from the garlic, the garlic is crushed. It works great every time and makes cooking with garlic a pleasure.
Soft fruit Peeler.
I try to ensure that my family eat plenty of fruit and vegetables. I keep my soft fruit peeler within easy reach because I’m forever using it. These types of peeler make it easy to peel plums, peaches, kiwi and nectarines. A fresh fruit salad can be produced in next to no time with this gadget. Tomatoes as well are easily dealt with by this tool.
Electronic Salt and Pepper Mill.
The best taste results from the use of freshly ground pepper and salt. All my food preparation involves the use of this sort of grinder. I didn’t discover the electric version until I’d spent years using the manual ones. It’s so easy and takes no time at all. The job is done as soon as you push the button. With my set I can see when they need to be refilled and can adjust the settings from fine to coarse. They are used both at the dinner table and for food preparation a must have for any bespoke kitchen.
Microplane Grater.
This is one item that you simply cannot do without. On discovering the ease with which this can be used you will throw away your other graters. Graters like this were originally used to smooth wood; then a woman discovered that it was ideal for the kitchen. This tool will easily grate anything, including chocolate, cheese and lemon skin.
