Anxiety Maximum Results
Year 9 End of Year Exams: How Important Are They?

I am Year 9 (England) and my end of year exams are on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday across all subjects, including Spanish and Geography which I am dropping next year. I have done hardly any revision due to my stress over doing revision mainly resulting from my anxiety issues. I am really nervous about my future and I have three questions I need a lot of detail about. If I revise in the following days (cram study) will I reach my maximum potential in terms of grades? What will happen next year if my results are not good? Do these exams have any bearing on my GCSE results or my future education and success in life?

PS: I an very bright and have a GCSE predicted grade of A* but I
have difficulty controlling my anxiety issues and I have frequent
panic attacks so I get really stressed about anything like exams
because of the pressurising nature of them.

Thank you in advance for your responses.

I had my year 9 exams a few years ago(the year that the government got rid of SATs). My school and probably your school as well will, use them as a guideline for what you are likely to achieve at GCSE, all schools to some extent will do this, as this is the only real test period which you have had for a good few years. As for how they might affects your GCSE’s and further life, they may have a bearing on if you will be allowed to take or join a particular course at GCSE level. But as far as careers go, I’ve never heard of a employer asking to see your year 9 test results, at the least they will look at your GCSE results if you do not have any further education qualifications. As for the cramming and revising, all I can say is calm down. These tests are not the be all and end all, and at the end of the day you can only try your best, but revising a lot beforehand means that even if you don’t get the marks you want, you can say that you tried your best. I too have anxiety problems when it comes to revising. Hope this helps =]

Vagus Nerve Stimulation And Anxiety

Vagus Nerve Stimulation And Anxiety

$10.39

In 1997, Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) therapy (Cyberonics, Houston, Texas) was approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of epilepsy refractory to antiepileptic medications. In 2005, VNS received FDA approval for treatment-resistant depression refractory to antidepressants, and Cyberonics recently received FDA approval for the clinical study of VNS for rapid cycling bipolar depression. Many researchers continue to investigate the anxiolytic effects of VNS in human and non-human animal models. The author presents a study of VNS effects on anxiety and the capacity of atropine methyl nitrate to attenuate these effects. The results indicate that VNS decreases anxiety in the laboratory animals tested. These findings provide evidence to support the testing and subsequent use of VNS therapy for the treatment of clinical anxiety in humans. Because many therapies that are effective in the treatment of depression effectively treat anxiety, VNS therapy should be effective and approvable for clinical anxiety. This book can serve as a research tool, training mechanism, or surgical guide to the implantation of the vagus nerve stimulating electrode in the laboratory rat. Hopefully, this resource provides information that facilitates FDA approval of VNS for treatment-resistant anxiety, a chronic, devastating and often debilitating illness.

Metacognitive Therapy For Anxiety And Depression

Metacognitive Therapy For Anxiety And Depression

$32.89

This groundbreaking book explains the "whats" and "how-tos" of metacognitive therapy (MCT), a cutting-edge form of cognitive-behavioral therapy with a growing empirical evidence base. MCT developer Adrian Wells shows that much psychological distress results from how a person responds to negative thoughts and beliefs for example, by ruminating or worrying rather than the content of those thoughts. He presents innovative, practical techniques and specific protocols for addressing metacognitive processes to effectively treat generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, and major depression. Special features include reproducible treatment plans and assessment and case formulation tools, plus a wealth of illustrative case material.

Social Anxiety by Howell, Davina [Paperback]

Social Anxiety by Howell, Davina [Paperback]

$109.93

Social anxiety disorder (SAD) is a remarkably common disorder that causes severe disruptions in daily life. However, despite growing literature specific aetiological factors underpinning SAD are still relatively unknown. Cognitive theories propose that memories of past experiences and biased schematic processing influence the development and maintenance of the disorder. This book aimed to explore aetiological factors underlying social anxiety, using an experimental design comprising projective and selfreport measures. Five early memories were cued to activate early maladaptive schemas (EMSs) in participants with high social anxiety. Results suggested that schemas were activated by specific people or events in memory and thus offers a new experimental design for future research in this area. Defectiveness/ shame schemas cued by school memories and failure schemas probed by memories of a social situation predicted social anxiety although regression analyses failed to reach statistical significance. Nevertheless, due to a small sample size and nonclinical population, these findings could be considered preliminary evidence that lie in the expected direction. The Power Of Positive Thinking In Business: Ten Traits For Maximum Results

The Power Of Positive Thinking In Business: Ten Traits For Maximum Results

$5.49

One of the most powerful forces in business today is the positive psychology movement — overcoming self-defeating attitudes and developing our talents and positive traits. Much of the new thinking, in fact, stems directly from the concepts in Norman Vincent Peale’s great classic bestseller, The Power of Positive Thinking, which has been translated into forty-two languages and has sold over 22 million copies. Now, after years of extensive research and field testing, working in cooperation with the Peale Center and major corporations nationwide, Scott Ventrella has adapted those concepts into a systematic program for people in business to achieve greater levels of personal and professional performance. The Power of Positive Thinking in Business provides a practical way for each of us to develop and actually strengthen the ten traits of a positive thinker. Inevitably, our performance rises to new levels when we learn how to overcome negative attitudinal barriers such as fear, lack of self-confidence, and low self-esteem, and instead develop the traits that characterize a positive thinker: optimism, enthusiasm, belief, integrity, courage, confidence, determination, patience, calmness, and focus. The Power of Positive Thinking in Business encourages us to concentrate on objective, rational thinking instead of self-limiting beliefs and negative self-talk. The result is an increased ability to deal effectively with tough situations and difficult people, in both business environments and personal lives. Together, rational thinking and the ten traits of a positive thinker can turn defeatist behavior into productive actions that will overcome the toughest of challenges with powerful, positive results. Best of all, these practical yet powerful concepts are applicable to businesspeople at all levels, disciplines, and functions within an organization, and have been adapted to appeal to people of all faiths.
